Several months ago the director of AKIP was posted to Semarang Prison and here Pa Joko (who had been very good to me and I will miss him sorely) is handing over to Pa Imam in an official ceremony. Third years looking sharp as usual.

an old crock

The remedy for the Indonesian malady of masuk angin is to be "crocked". Having contracted typhus in March, I then was unlucky enough in June to be bitten by a mosquito that gave me "chikungunya." I still have debilitating joint pain - though easing - after 5 months.
Ergo, crocking! I think the idea is to be in so much pain from the scoring that the original problem is forgotten....

cha cha cha

AIM and AKIP both learn how to dance. Here are the AIM cadets learning the cha cha. Great moves from the second years.

A remarkably good looking santa claus from last christmas - noting that I have not posted since becoming ill in March.
This was at the erstwhile establishment in Cilandak known as "MadDogs".

outside the flat

The girls always pose for a picture no matter what position they find themselves in. Here AIM second class exercise and have some fun too.

outside the flat

Bomb blast victims? No, just a pilates class on the tarmac out the front of the flat. I'd join in but the Chief PTI June Cunningham would get upset if I didn't bring a towel so that has to be a good excuse.

On Friday the 30 January the Imigrasi staff went over to the Police Training area at Kelapa Dua (two coconuts) near Depok. The new class are undertaking their rookies here for a month before they start the grind of the Academy. They all looked very serious and had clearly done the hard yards.
I kept asking
"How is your holiday?"
"No no, not holiday, very hard".
When I asked whether they would prefer to be here or on a beach in Bali only one had kept his sanity and said "Bali".

I always thought being a sniper was easy but the seats are so small no wonder they made me an electrician. Here my failing eyesight saw me miss 1 out of 5 from 300 yards, and using a telescopic sight as well. Luckily the 44 gallon drums weren't firing back.

How come when I shoot nobody helps out but when its a pretty girl there is a queue? Here Pa's daughter takes aim and has ample assistance.

Just to get the feel of a sniper, the pot plant is planted alongside a very intense Pa Ferdinand.
